Blessed Are the Peacemakers

As we celebrate the service and commitment of our veterans who have served our Country with such valor and dedication, how do we reconcile ourselves with the United Methodist Church's position from the Book of Discipline from paragraph ¶165.C: stating that war is “incompatible with the teachings of Christ.”? As "peacemakers," our veterans are called to step into violent conflicts to attempt a resolution after peaceful attempts were unsuccessful. Join us this Sunday as we celebrate our veterans and the work that they have been called to do with an understanding that war is a last resort.
